This year’s Duck Race was another resounding success with the late April sun shining down on children and parents alike as 400 little yellow ducks raced against each other down the village stream in two hotly contested heats before the superb grand final where plucky Duck 144 owned by Keira saw off stiff competition from Duck 73 owned by Casi and Duck 296 owned by Osian. Massive cash prizes of £25, £15 and £10 went to the lucky winners on the day. In Heat 1, Duck 24 owned by Joe Allen squeezed out Duck 5 owned by Helen Burns and in Heat 2, Duck 276 owned by Ian Howells won by a beak from Duck 208 owned by Ella. A big packet of Haribos Starmix went to each of the four winners. In the ever-popular ‘Red Duck’ Kiddies race there was controversy when the first duck across the finish line had to be disqualified for ‘illegal assistance from the stream banks’ before eventual winner Duck 11 owned by Anna Watts edged out Duck 33 owned by Amy Sygrove to claim first prize. Haribos again gratefully received by Anna and Amy. Thanks to everyone who arranged the event and particularly to all who turned up to support their sponsored ducks. The event made £390 with all proceeds going towards the upkeep and running of the Village Hall. Thank you all for your generous sponsorship of this annual event.
See you all next year :-))
